The book began somewhat slowly, and at first, I found it difficult to keep all the characters straight as they use so many titles plus names. The book inspired in me an interest in British history, and I definitely googled for more information as I read (although you certainly do not need to do so). Her joys, her worries, and her sadnesses were also mine by the end of the novel. In this book, we get to know Victoria very well- I often felt like I was her confidante, navigating the political and social minefield of the British elite with her.
